Changing band name

Well folks, my band, Fling, have come to a big decision and we need your help with it. After a lot of deliberation, we have decided to change the name of the band. The name Fling has served us well for the last couple of years but we have decided to make a big change - a new name. As our tour schedule has expanded it has become apparent to us that this is a necessary move due to a couple of reasons.

Firstly, it has come to our attention that there are actually several bands called Fling scattered around the world in places such as Holland, Singapore, Australia and the US. This has caused confusion on a number of of occasions with both media and fans and is something we feel needs to be remedied.

Secondly, on a lighter note, the other reason we feel we need to change the name is quite funny really but it's causing us no end of bother. Well, google "Fling" and you'll see what we mean. You will probably have to trawl through listings of porn and dating sites before you find us....which is a journey we would prefer not to put our fans through!

Anyway, we've been thinking and thinking about a new name and have come up with some ideas. We would like your input on this.

My thoughts on each:

Moon Dog - fairly well known band already called Moondog Jnr.
Siul eile, currach, Na Taoidí - No. Just no. Unless you're a trad band, then it could work. A link to your tunes could help us btw. But people from Ireland won't have a clue how to spell any of them, or possibly pronounce them
The Sea Mantics sounds like a bunch of cleverer-than-thou 15 year olds :pac:
The Mantic Waves, Restless Legs and Tantica I just don't understand to be honest.

The Rattigans is ok, Is that a surname from the band?

Thanks for all the tips and feedback there, Pappa Dolla. I totally forgot there's a poll option on here. I made the poll on surveymonkey so I could post it on twitter, facebook etc also. That's a bummer some phones won't be able to access it.

Thanks a million for that! I've actually removed Moon Dog as an option on the surveymonkey one after you pointed out there's already a band out there using the name. Is it possible to remove it from the one here?

I actually have a syndrome called restless legs syndrome. And my girl friend was telling me for years that I must be dreaming i'm Elvis every night. Anyway I found out years later it was a symptom of under active thyroid that I wasn't aware I had.

Restless is a great word to consider for your band. So then think of some other word referring to legs might be good. trunks/jocks/pants/trousers/ankles/socks/bones/brogues/ or something with no reference to legs might be cool. or an Irish word. Or maybe just "Restless Legs Syndrome" but this may be too long.

Anyway sorry for going on a bit. I hope you have loads of success with your band.

Those are all awful. Coming up with a band name is a pain in the arse though, in fairness. My bands have always had awful names too. *sigh*

It was also a restaurant in Dublin - North City I reckon.

Mahogany Gaspipes has as a nice ring to it. Good old Myles!
On the other side though, the some of the connotations are maybe ones you wouldn't like? Ie someone who is 'faking' a bit of Irish (and the first one that actually sprung to mind with me!) - wiki

Or maybe that doesn't matter?
