    Hi,
This is kind of a long one to explain although straight forward to anyone that knows about setting up tvs.
We have sky only from the dish in the sitting room. In the bedroom we had rte channels coming from an aerial in the attic plus a free to air box (I presume was wired to the same satalite dish) giving the english channels. We also had an eye in the bedroom meaning we could watch and change sky channels from the sitting room.
We also had the irish channels on the tv in the kitchen & another eye routed to the free to air box in the bedroom that I could change. We could also watch the Sky channels in the kitchen but would have to switch in the sitting room.

Our free to air box packed in before the digital switchover so went out and bought a combo box for the bedroom to replace it. I have tried to install the combo box but can only get the Irish channels. When I do a satalite search, I only get up channels from the likes of Iran or somewhere (no English channels).

It is not feeding into the kitchen where the free to air box used to and i can no longer see the sky channels upstairs. I'm thinking obviously i dont have it connected correctly?? Do I need a seperate combi box for the bedroom & the kitchen?

I know I'll have to get an installer to rectify the situation but would like to know first off if i need 2 combo boxes.

Oh, finally the combo box upstairs is supposed to be able to record too. I've only noticed over the wknd though that it only records for a coupld of minutes and then cuts off. Is it possible there's a prob with the box itself? There's plenty of storage on the usb as there's nothing on it and got the one the greatest capacity in the shop!

Long winded I know!! If anyone could recommend a TV installer in the North Wicklow area too I'd also appreciate it! Thanks!

Don't know much about the first part of your problem but sounds like you need an installer - maybe to adjust dish. This would be a good place to start:

What read/write speeds does your USB stick have? Needs to be high. Plus is it formatted correctly?

Not sure what combo box you have but alot of the saorview/combo boxes are only PVR ready. So there are not great for recording.

Another option would be an external hard drive with its own power source.

You mean you can only bring up a list for these channels? You aren't actually tuning them in & viewing them? You'll need to search the 28 degrees east satellite position.

You can only view the Sky RF output via the tv's analogue tuner.

What make & model was the old FTA box? It may have had a built in modulator (like the Sky box) for distributing the programme being viewed to other tvs.
