Skoda Octavia not starting (again)

So as im off today i went out to start the Octavia so i could give it a clean and a small spin and it's completely dead again.

It was started a week or so ago from completely dead and now it's the same way again.

Probably brining it to my local Indy this evening if i can get it going. Tried charging it with another car for almost an hour and it still won't start just a click. Battery is fairly new and very little milage has been done since it was changed so im thinking it's.

    Alternator
    Solinoid
Maybe some type of drain on the battery when car is switched off and locked.

Have had this problem in the past but as i was driving it almost every day maybe the drain wasn't as noticable.

    Any ideas ? Thanks

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Try a jump start. Could just be a flat battery.

Gave it an hours worth of charge with dad's avensis earlier, no dice.

Problem isn't it being insanely dead it's the fact it won't retain said charge

The cold weather surely didnt help, and if it only had a small run or was just left to idle last time it was running there may not be enough charge built up.

It had a 10 mile or so drive last 2 times i started it and was let run for almost an hour, problem is a drain when it's not in use or charge dissapating excessively when not in use

Could be a dirty battery terminal/connection. Could be a bad earth either. Have you tested the battery voltage?

Not yet, don't have a multimeter

You could try push starting it.

Are the other electrical things working properly?

    Lights bright ect?

Yup, but for obvious reasons when charging it i keep as many off as is possible

Well as everything else is working as it should I would have high hopes for it starting with a push. It's not parked on a hill by any lucky chance is it?

Nah on the flat, i don't think it's the alternator as it wouldn't have jumped the last 2 times when i did so tbh

Well if you have no one to push it then you could try hitting the starter with a hammer. This helps free them out if they are on the way out.
