window washer light on my Passat

Hi All,

My cars NCT is out, the window washer bottle is broken so it can't hold water so the light is constantly on.
Will it pass the NCT like this?

Is it broken at the bottom or will it hold any water at all?? if the washers work for a couple of seconds even, it should pass.

Never mind the NCT, sort it out. You need windscreen washers at this time of year for safety's sake.

Easy to say but it's a big job to replace the washer bottle on the Passat '05-present.

The whole front bumper and grill assembly has to come off to get at it where it is in the wing.

Mine went about 12 months ago and AFAIR it was the thick end of €250 to replace.

not judging one way or the other, but I could not last more than a few days without the ability to properly clean my windshield whilst driving...

Well for the few days I had to wait before the dealer had time to do the job I kept a large old washing up liquid bottle full of water and windscreen washer fuild in the car to clean the windscreen with when necessary.

The issue is not so much how hard it is to get at, more the expense that results from it. Not everyone has the cash peg out at a drop of a hat.

No its not a quick fix i am not intentionally trying to get around fixing it, theres a bottle ordered but im just afraid of getting done by the guards in the meantime so wanting to get the NCT done asap.

The bottle will hold water for about an hour/90 mins but its fairly clear when you look under the car that all the water is pissing out of it, with view to the whole safety aspect I am getting it installed the minute it comes in
