Rent Allowance

Not sure how this works.

I have downloaded and filled in forms from the internet, Just waiting on paperwork from landlord before meeting cwo.

I am receiving job seekers allowance with my girlfriend as a dependent. Living in same house for 18 months now and have letter from county council saying we meet criteria for housing.

From what I gather we are entitled to rent allowance but the house we are renting is 3 bedrooms and €550 will we be asked to move to get the allowance? Or will we be entitled to a portion of the rent and the rest we can pay from our social welfare?

I see you are in Waterford so as you can see from my attached link, the limit for a couple is 400 pm As a couple you will be expected to put 35 euro between you towards it each week. So you will get approx 65 pw towards the rent. Offically you cannot be paying a landlord more than 400 pm.
Even if you find a place for say 440 and decide to pay the extra yourself, you cannot put more than 400 on the form or they will disallow it, Hope this helps.
