How long is a piece of string. BTW a barrister does not go to the High Court to get anything stamped. The process is Solicitor put together a Brief (that contains all relevent documents) and sends it to Barrister, the Barrister then drafts a Personal Injuries Summons that can take a day or a number of weeks depending on how much work, how big the brief etc. then the barrister sends the PIS and brief back to the solicitor. Usually the PIS is sent to an SC to settle (make sure everything is pleaded) and sent back to solicitor. The PIS is then stamped with stamp duty by the solicitor and then filled in the Central office. Finally a copy of the PIS is served on the Defendant. All of that can happen in a few days or a few months depending on all the issues of the case.
