Well done - nice to have a clean sheet. Time to move on to another phase of your life hopefully.

Might have a 'fire sale' myself - sudden price drop for a few days to see if there's any cash out there

....dang. Here, plagiarise my sig........... :(

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Did you not find pleasure anymore in your hobby, or was it financial constrains?

Either way, make sure you stay around here!

the first one...hadn't turned a wheel since june

Had the pleasure of driving the 3.0S Cortina to the UK at the expense of the buyer.... covered 260 miles from the boat in 3 1/2 hours... :-)

All the good stuff's going back to the UK alright, sold three this week, all to the UK and a deposit on another. In fairness to the buyers there, there's no messing around like what's going on here. The amount of time wasters and tyre kickers in Ireland beggars belief really, so much so that i'm beginning to think even advertising in Ireland's a waste of time.

The memory of that alone will keep you going, maybe a little holiday in South Africa driving a Sierra XR8 would be called for if you need a 'top up' !!!

What media are you advertising in ? Autotrader / Car and Classic ??

Agree there, when I sold my Shelby eons ago, the chap just showed up with a briefcase of £20's ( highest they had then ) and I counted it, signed papers and drove him to the ferryport. Another Nigerian came for my D20, quick look, wad of €50's and away he went. What I'm doing now is I let the phone ring out, save that number under 'Buyer?' and if it rings next day then he's potentially serious, not just ringing for a chat !!

Further evidence of UK focus by Irish sellers

04 Commodore SS http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C339700 , you can see the Omega influence around the rear windows.

Showing your age there. :p (as the BoE first issued those big 50 quid notes with Sir Christopher Wren on the reverse on the 20th March 1981. ;))

Grand but what about the transmission bands, diff, drive shaft, half shafts engine mounts and brake drums and liners,

Carandclassic .co.uk might get more buyers too ,

most of that stuff is goin for export, good luck with the sale.

    .

would you do any damage? You aren't doing anything you wouldn't do driving along, except you are knackering the tyres surely?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,107 ✭✭✭hi5

By using a line lock, which I see it has , you won't do to much damage.
Its when lads hold their foot on the brake and accelerator at the same time, thats when the damage is done:eek:.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,499 ✭✭✭Capri

I remember 'showing off' in the 3.0S Capri, next thing driveshaft went and took the brake pipes with it !!!!!

Even my current E430, with relatively gentle driving is going thru 1 engine mount/ year ( the same side - design fault ! )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,080 ✭✭✭✭Big Nasty

My box, driveshaft and axle are fine lads but thanks for the concern. I've only used the line-lock a handful of times and that video is one of twice I did this (on the same day ). Cost me €350 in rubber for two mins of 'fun'! I take your point about the video Bigus, might be an idea to remove it. ;)

Anyhow, back to Corktina's classic-less status.........
