    Hi All,
The OH's car (07 Clio 1.2) has been having strange issues. When accelerating, the car feels like its hopping and spluttering a little. When sat in neutral at the lights, you can see the revs dip slightly and all the lights on the dash fade slightly. Any idea what could be causing this? Its been going on for a while. I thought it may have been dodgy fuel at first, but after 20 odd refuels its still the same. Possible spark/air flow sensor issue?

    Thanks

Sounds like a coil pack is giving trouble to me.

Expensive fix do you know? It only happened directly after there was a service done

No, I had the same traits as you described on my 1.8 Laguna and changing the coil packs cured mine. I got a set in a breakers for around €40 a few years ago now. Buying new ones can be expensive through Renault though.

I know someone who works in the parts trade, and always does them at cost.

Was yours completely cutting out? Herself's feels like its about to cut but doesnt.

Ya mine got to a stage where if I came to a stop the car cut out or if the revs dipped enough it cut out. Not sure if coils can be got through a motor factors, I remember I couldn't anyways.

The guy I know supplies the garages, apologies, should have clarifed!

Grand, I hope its the coils. The power doesnt actually die, but you can feel the power struggling when accelerating. If you keep it at higher revs (above 4k) it seems to be ok.

The coil pack can be got through a motor factors. There are 2 types for the Clio, The difference is if it held on with 3 or 4 bolts. These usually come with the plugs leads already on them. Think the're around 80 plus the VAT.

recently bought coilpacks(Valeo) for one friend for his 01 clio in ebay, half cheaper than in shops, just make sure buy from good rated sellers.
