National Shield 2012 Programme

    The IPF National Shield will be held on Sunday 11th of November in Ballyfermot Civic Centre.

    Two of Ireland's leading photographers, leading amaetur wildlife photographer, Andrew Kelly and Ireland's premier and awards wining sports photographer, Ray McManus will be talking at this years National Shield.

    Programme for the Day
    8:00 – 10:00 am - Hanging of prints

    All panels must be hung before 10am
    10:00 – 11:00 am - Time for breakfast

    11:00 – 12:00 am -Talk: Wildlife Photography

    Ireland’s leading ameatur wildlife photographer, Andrew Kelly will be giving a talk on wildlife photography.
    Andrew’s photography has been published in a number of books, a selection of Irish Magazines and on the BBC. In 2010, Andrew won Photographer of the Year 2010, from Magazines Ireland, the group that represents the 110 Irish Magazines (including HotPress, Image, RTE Guide….).

    12:00 – 2:00 pm - Time for lunch


    2:00 – 3:00 pm - Talk: Ray McManus

    Ray McManus is a photographer living in Dublin, Ireland. He began his career in 1975 and, in 1980, he set up the Sportsfile agency which specialises in sports photography. Ray has travelled the globe covering events as diverse as international soccer and the Olympics Games.
    Ray has won numerous Press Photographers Association of Ireland AIB Photojournalist of the Year awards and was voted the Irish News Photographer of the Year in 1987.
    This year, in addition to the World Press award, he has been awarded first prize in the ‘Sports Action’ category of AIB Photojournalist of the Year.
    3:00 – 4:00 pm - Judges Comments

    National Shield Judges will give their comments on the submitted panels
    4:00 – 4:30 pm - Awards Ceremony

    Awards and certificates will be presented to winning clubs.
    After 5:00 pm - Removal of panels

    Panels maybe removed only after 5pm, no earlier unless agreed with the event coordinator in advance.
    Individual panel results will only be made available after 5.30pm, once all images have been removed and boards cleaned up.
