Found a small leak under sink around the large lock nut (see pic).

Whats the best approach to fix, was thinking 1st try tightening the lock nut, looks like 30+mm not sure of the size ??

I presume it can only be got at from under neath. I replaced the counter a couple of years ago but i dont remember tightening the large locking nut or if plumbing tape was used.

Its the hot top side,so before going at it i will empty the tank in attic.

    Any advice please?sink.jpg

first of all i dont get you,,,is it u mean that the brass nut on the fitting(312) is leaking that is screwed on to the tap thread that is leaking or is it water coming down under the tap washer seal on th e top part and leaking down and in to your cupboard

no need to drain tank unless ur cold water shut off valve is fucxxx:D

its the 3/4" valve normally on a copper pipe that is going in at the near bottom of your hot water cylinder

explain is it the nut nearest us in the pic or the lock nut above holding the tap on etc

ok yeah its the locking nut holding the tap unit on, the locking nut that threads on the tap unit itself.

there is no sign of leak above the sink, when i turn on the hot tap and get my head under the sink, its then i can see the small leak.
