Kia Pro'ceed - won't accelerate past 3k revs

    Hello all,

Looking to see if anyone has any advice or comments on this.

My car is a Kia Pro'Ceed 08, 1.6D, and yesterday it was working fine.

This morning I find it won't rev past 3k in any gear. It gets to ~2,999 and just stops there, not more acceleration. Previously the rate of acceleration would drop as I got out of its torque range, but now the acceleration is just dying.

Nothing done to the car recently, though I got it serviced a few months ago. Only difference between today and yesterday is that it was frosty this morning, first morning I had to de-ice the car in more than a year, but I don't remember having this issue when it was frosty previously.

    Cheers.

I know this reply is not particularly helpful but I had exactly the same thing happen to me yesterday, pulls perfectly to 3k then dies, have it booked in on Monday. Must be a common problem whatever it is, will respond once I get it sorted.

VW / Audi cars limit the engine to 3k rpm in 'limp home' mode, i.e. when the engine management system thinks there's something wrong.
(Usually the 'something wrong' is a fault with the 'something' sensor)

Possibly this is a similar feature?

Do they have a DPF fitted? I'm not sure off the top of my head. If they do you may have activated but not completed a regeration.

This may be the case if you are getting no engine malfunction light on the dash.

Another angle, is it constant or does it rev ok when its fully up to temperature?

Don't remember seeing any engine warning light on the car this morning.

The issue was the same from starting the car this morning to when I stopped it 40 minutes later, having driven up the M50. Oil temp was fine getting out of the car - I had thought it might be the cold engine at first, but the issue was there for the entire drive.

It didn't effect me too much for the most part - as it is a diesel car, so I generally don't go much over 2400rpm - only approach 3k+ when I am accelerating from 0 or slow speeds.

Will be this evening before I can check the car again, when I am driving home.

Had it in the garage today, just rang me there to say they had to replace the fuel filter - not a warranty issue either so I have to pay. Annoying.

Did you get your car back? Is it OK now?

yeah - seems to be going fine now, since the new filter was put in.

Exactly the same solution for me. Had a look at the filter housing before I brought to to the garage and is buried so you cannot get access easily. I expect that is why it was not replaced at the recent service!!
