Ringtone won't play when receiving a call

When someone is ringing me the phone will only vibrate and the ringtone won't play. And before someone asks the obvious, no the phone is not on vibrate only. Sometimes the phone will ring properly but the problems occurs more then what the phone should normally do.

Phone is a Sony Xperia Tipo. Bought it the week they came out a couple of months ago.

    Any thoughts ?

Is the ringtone you are using on the sd card or in the phone memory? I had the same issue with a cheapo Chinese phone. It would only intermittantly play the chosen ringtone. I re-downloaded the ringtone and saved it to the phone's memory. That solved my problem anyway.

As the person above said, sometimes storing files such as ring tones, widgets, wallpapers or whatever on the SD card can cause issues.

Also, have you tried taking out the battery?

Won't work at all if you take out the battery!

At first the ringtone was on the SD card but when the problem started happening I then changed my ringtone to one of the normal ones that came with the phone. Nope haven't tried taking the battery out yet. Do I just take it out and put it back in straight away or leave it for a while ?

Just leave it for about 10 seconds. No harm in removing the sim too. Always the first thing I try.

Have to bring this thread back to life again, same problem still persisting and getting worse. Don't know if I should even bother bringing it back to Carphone Warehouse as I bought it over 6 months ago ?

Can't ever see myself buying a Android again, absolute rubbish.
