Buying a Focus Estate....what to look out for?

Hi, been lurking here for ages, I'm looking for a diesel estate (I do regular long hauls and need the space), and am finally going to take the plunge and buy something. Currently driving a 12 year old 1.4 corolla.
There's lots of good threads on the merits of cars in the 2005 - 2007 range, so I've narrowed the search down to focus or maybe avensis.
Thing is, every ad I see just makes me nervous....is the dmf nearing its end? Are they selling because the turbo is shot etc etc. The more I read online the more convinced I become that every car out there is a minefield of potential problems!

So i'm having pre-buying jitters and I don't have anybody that I can really ask to accompany me when buying.

What do ye think of these two cars? The 2008 seems too good to be true?

    My budget is euro7000

    Thanks!

Thanks for the tips, didn't even realise the plates were blacked out, definitely won't be pursuing that any further.
I presume by a lot of paint, you're noticing the panels are different colours?
