I noticed this in store yesterday alright. Kind of risky with all 6 bottles being the same though in case it's crap wine. Anyone have any recommendations of any of the ones on offer?

I haven't tried them but Blake Creedon of the Irish Examiner gave the Lidl wine range good reviews recently: http://www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/foodanddrink/wine/cimarosa-californian-zinfandel-rose-211263.html

The Merlot from South Africa is decent, I had some of that last week. Good for the price.

I use tons of white wine in recipes - lots of risottos and chicken casseroles. I always buy a couple of those boxes when in the north, not sure why they just havent caught on down here....:D

The overcrowded liver department in St Vincent's won't like this. Women are out numbering men in new cases. To much wine being binged drunk at home.

... that may be the case but what does that have to do with the reasonable social consumption of wine? Should food be banned or priced highly because a minority overeat? Should knives be banned or highly taxed because a minority use them in violent acts against themselves and others?

Wine is enjoyed in moderation by the vast majority of people. A minority should not dicate what's good for the rest of us, nor should the behaviour of a minority determine government policy. In any case, the current "minimum pricing of alcohol" fad is all about the government raising more taxes from citizens, it has nothing to do with preventing addiction or promoting health, nothing at all.
