Hi folks, we have just bought our first home and are meeting the current owner tomorrow to go through the in's and outs of how the house runs. Has anybody any suggestions to what we should be asking him, the obnious ones are the heating systems etc..but if you have anything that you think we should add please reply. Thanks

Ask about the neighbours. The owners may not answer this, if so don't push. In most estates, there are a few people best avoided, it takes some time to work out who they are.

Ask if he knows how to turn off the water from the outside of the house (he may not know, but if he does, it is handy to be able to do this).

Check the attic, and if there is any rubbish left in it, ask him to remove it. Same with the garden shed.

Ask them about the electric cooker - an electrician could not figure out how to use the timer on mine!! I should have asked the previous owners.

if house is 20 plus years old,was it ever rewired.
take esb reading on the day you move in.
    change front door lock.
when was central heating, boiler serviced last.
in dublin ,if theres a parking meter on your street ,you may need a license from council, to park your car or a visitors parking permit.
i,m assuming its terraced house, in urban area,
    not in estate.
