If my recollection of facts is correct it comes down to the following; if game meat changes hands in a commercial transaction at least one of the involved parties needs to be a licenced game dealer. Still doesn't mean that you can't sell venison or pheasant or duck or the like if you havent't but it'll have to be from verifiable farmed sources so it's just meat and not game.

It ink there is a butcher in Kildare that does it. Now I do think you need a license alright but but weather he sells it or just butchers it for lads I'm not sure. I have been told he buys game to sell it.

Ill pop in on my way home from work and ask him for you.

    Jesus them prices are mental.

You'll be much better off finding a lad who will give you some free of charge or an exchange for a small gift or the likes. To sell to you would be illegal.

This will be a much nicer younger animal too as game dealers get landed with the big old stags that wont be as good as the younger ones.

There is a place in kildare in clane im almost 90% sure. The lad who would know that living near enough is on a leave from here though.

There is another crowd in wicklow in rathdrum. (no idea how far away that is from you)

The place im thinking of is not far from kilcock

Those prices are outrageous!! Did you see the "hunters box". €199!! I'm always happy to give people some of the ones I shoot. I've 2 shot this year already. Thats more than enough for my family for the year. I'll gladly give some to anyone that wants some!

They are a bit steep alright :D
How come your not allowed to sell the game you get ?

The man you're talking about in Enniskillen is Doherty's butchers on Belmore Street, he sells pheasant and venison and is licenced through the local district court to sell game. He also does the rather delicious (but also rather pricey) black bacon.

A good butcher will get you what you want, there isn't a demand so they won't stock it
