    Hey,
After some positive & negative comments after my first post (admittedly in the wrong place!)...
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056793415
I'm looking (hopefully) in the right area to find out what clubs you'd recommend in the Sth Co Dublin area?
    Thanks

    Whats your exact location?

In Dun Laoghaire but willing to branch out a little... looking for some options that aren't in town. Cheers

Club 92 is ok, if a bit pretentious at times. The 40 foot in dun laoghaire is alright on a busy night. That's about the extent of places I'd recommend.

Thanks Charlie, haven't been to 92 in a while so might give that a shot again.
Anywhere in particular that would have a 21-30 yr old crowd?

40ft would be in the lower age bracket, 92 caters for every age.

I'd disagree with that..last few times ive been in 92, Ive felt very old.. and im 30!

Suite 54 over Tonic in Blackrock is grand. Otherwise try upstairs in Queens in Dalkey.

Haven't been in the 40foot or Club 92 in years!

    Thanks for the responses
It's hard to find a good spot. You can get some jocks in Dalkey and then the numbers in Suite 54 seem to be going down.
Is Parker Browns still open? Any good?

Oh dear no, 92 hasn't had its pretentious aura since, well, 92! On the Krystal scale of pretentiousness it scores about a 1. Its just a sticky floor spot for a late beer and a bop, 17yos think its cool and you wouldnt be seen dead in it over age 25 unless youre working your way through a wad of cash won on the nags that day

Thinking about it, the standard of clubs in the DLR area is woeful compared to 20 years ago. If Parker Browns and Suite 54 are the best going then the suss isnt good

Gilberts n wrights in Dun L is a nice spot for a late drink and some music....

I'd actually say its a bit rough. A lot of the remnants of Dun Laoghaire are hanging about the place.

Hasn't the former Lime/Traders Wharf location in DL reopened as something or other?

I think it's just a run of the mill bar rather than a club these days.

Fairly sure it's either closed or re branded itself as something else.

Considering it was running like two weeks ago and has regularly been inviting me to annoying events on Facebook I'd wager it's still very much open

Parker browns is a dive. Yet I always seem to end up there :o

Can anyone think of a suburban night club south of the City Centre (canal) that isnt a dive?

I know one mans dive is another mans paradise, but the scene is a disaster compared even to my day, although maybe my perception was different then!!

Dublin isn't really a night club city to be fair. When it comes to pubs we have a a lot of great ones (I'd even go as far to say that Dublin is by far my favourite city for pubs as opposed to bars in the world) but club wise it's pretty woeful.

I agree about the pubs. :D

But there are tons of clubs in Dublin. They are just very spread out!

    South of the city centre..

    Rathmines: Toast,Tramco, Copan

    Donnybrook: Vanilla

    Harolds x: new Mcgowans

    Ballsbridge: ICE bar

    Blackrock: Tonic/suite 54

    Leoaprdstown: club 92

Also places already mentioned across DL, Bray & Dundrum

Pls a fair few in south west- Tallaght, Red Cow, City West.

There must be 20 plus in South Dublin.

There used be shedloads of clubs in the area:

Hollywood Nights / Deep - Stillorgan Park Hotel
Blinkers - Leopardstown Race Course (now Club 92)
Racey Nights - above the Lepp Inn
Pink Panther - above Bolands Stillorgan, now McGowan's
Ziggys - Rose Park Hotel (rip roaring kip!)
    Paparazzi - Dun Laoghaire
Mistys - above Lamb Doyles (way before my time)
    Marlays - Three Rock Hotel
    Club Apres - Kilternan Hotel
Faces - South County (Churchtown), was McGowan's for a time too.
Purty Kitchen - above Purty Loft (or was it the other way round?)
Club Lime - De La Salle RC (only open for about a year in the mid-90's)
Scrupples - Kingston Hotel, Dun Laoghaire

    All sadly gone now. :(

Last rounds was at 11:30 so every one onto a club, then pubs got later so no need to move on.
