Cycling clubs

    There was a link to the rules or etiquette of a cycling club posted a couple of days ago, was surprised to see that you had to have a road bike. That hybrids and tourers weren't allowed on group cycles. Is this normal. Are all cc's race orientated ? Just curious

    Some clubs are very focussed on racing, others more so on leisure cycling. A lot of the bigger clubs would have elements of the two.

    Most clubs will insist on people riding road bikes. They are seen as safer for group riding. In addition, using a hybrid would tend to put you at a disadvantage to the rest of the group, which might lead you to struggle.

    Not sure about what the problem might be with tourers, but a hybrid's bars meeting drop bars in a group can only end badly.
