Hi, I had an interview with citi for a 9 month work placement program. Im just wondering if anyone could give me some insight into what its like to work for citi. I heard the hours are long, is this true?. The job is in the global income department in Dublin by the way.

    Thanks.

They have not a great reputation I believe. They rung me 2 weeks ago and said they saw my CV. I did not even send it to them but they got it somewhere. Anyway to cut a long story short I am going in on Friday to see them - can't see the harm. If anybody has worked there or if anybody knows of another thread with Citi, it would be great finding out more.

No, I don't think it helps frankly. Copying what I posted on a similar thread just now : I work there, and I have friends who work in similar financial institutions around Dublin, they are no better and no worse than other employers in this field. There is a lot of opportunity to learn, and do training, both online and on the job, there are good facilities on site including a gym, the people are on average friendly and nice - it is really a question of whether you put yourself out there and avail of these things, or sit back, do nothing, and complain. I would not rely on the opinion of a few boardies, given that the place that has thousands of employees. I personally love my job there, and know lots of others who do also - not saying it is not difficult at times, it is, but then it is also difficult at times in other jobs, no difference to other similar places from what my friends tell me.

I have friends who work there and they seem to really enjoy, great social life through it which is important I think.
