Sister in law getting married in February - any idea what to wear?

My sister in law is getting married in February - I know that it is months away but I would be greatful for suggestions - money is tight and I have to be able to wear it again, it has to be child friendly as I have 2 young ones. I am 5ft 1 and a curvy size 8 (am 38).

It also needs to be warm - had chemo a few years ago and still feel the cold.

I'd wait til the sales after Christmas, you'd pick up something lovely and party season-ish that would be appropriate for cold weather and you'd get it at a good price.

You may need a coat/jacket as well as a dress and you'll get good reductions in the sales. But it's a good idea to be keeping an eye out now, try on in shops and buy online when they are reduced.

I've never bough Asos own brand dress so I'm not sure what the quality is like but you have loads of time to order and return etc.

I think I would get the dress then a coat/jacket/blazer and accessorise from there.

Thanks, I was hoping to keep an eye out on several things and wait until they are reduced keeping my options open. My sister in law is ultra conservative - she said that I looked cheap wearing something that was not up to my neck and long, normally I would ignore her but I want to be nice for her wedding.

To you neck and long... what does she expect you to wear... a berka! It's your money and as you said you need to be wear it again so I would ignore her. That was a very personal and bitchy remark to make! :eek:

Personally a prefer a classy, elegant look and hate anything trashy but to the neck and long is OTT.

I saw the dress below in Siopaella, Temple Bar, Dublin at the weekend. It's by Karen Millen and is a size 8. I'm not sure what the price was but I think it would be a great deal. It is long so may need a few inches taken off it.

I would definitely wait for the sales, you will pick something up. My friend went to a wedding last Feb and she got a fabulous Aileen Bodkin dress and coat in the Arnotts sale with a massive 70% off.

Ultra conservative I bet she uses the toilet the same way as all of us do. My advice to you would be to wear something you're comfortable in, and you feel good in. I think any brides to be who are reading this would probably agree that they want their guests to be comfortable.

Cathy, if its February, then you may need a dressy coat. Pennys have one that is almost brocade style in cream and black - you could change the buttons on it or add piping to lapel/cuffs to style it up or make it look like a *notpennys* coat.:) the embossed pattern would help disguise little paw prints better than a plain fabric.

I got a cream one and think its gorgeous - and does not look like it cost €35 - I've got a black dress with a cream/tan pattern that it goes with perfectly, and nude shoes. I'll be wearing it to a christening in December.
