Any decent sub €500/600 laptops with a backlit keyboard out there?

I'm in the market for a lightweight laptop, one that I can take to and from college without too much hassle.

Fo me it's not just a novelty as I type lot at night so it would come in really useful for finding keys and such.

Every laptop I've come cross that comes equipped with one tends to veer towards the €1000+ range.

Any help in finding one is appreciated. :)

No backlit keyboard for you with that budget. ;)

Maybe 14" Vizio Thin & Light (1.5 kg) is for you. It's not yet available here. Amazon US is selling it for 600 Dollar (€464), if you buy from the States, you're liable for 23% VAT, which is still within your budget.

Or the new thin 15.6" Asus K56CA (Weight 2.3 kg), €540 at Argos.

Do either of those come with a backlit keyboard? It's not the end of the world if they don't. I might go for the K56.

If you want a backlit keyboard, you'll better start looking in the region of 8-900 yoyos. ;)

Yep, looks decent enough and the battery life should be good with that ULV processor.

Pity, they don't sell the Vizio here. 600 Dollar is a sensational price for a aluminum unibody Ultrabook with a real SSD.

How does this Sony Vaio sound. €555 for i3 processor, 4gb RAM and 320GB hard drive.

Add €30 for a 500gb hard drive and €50 if you want an i5 processor. Im thinking of getting one myself. Delivery is free but delivery times arn't very quick

Actually, it turns out Sony's delivery times are actually pretty good. They were quoting a long delivery time but once I ordered they are now saying it will be delivered next week

    Not exactly lightweight at 3.2kg?

Ya I missed that! Wasn't really something I was worried about for my laptop. But if you want a cheap laptop you need to make some compromise. He now has an option for a back lit keyboard for much less than 8 or €900
