Hi, I'm looking to get started in financial trading. I'm trying to find a Forex broker that supports the Metatrader 4/5 platform, but also would like the option to invest in stocks across US and Australian exchanges.

    1. Are there any broker out there, US or otherwise that could offer me both?
    2. Do stock brokers tend to offer trades across multiple exchanges?

If you dont know the answer to this, keep well away from Forex trading for a while. You will loose money.

    FXCM or Oanda are two.

Don't even think about going to a live account until you are consistently profitable on a demo account

DEMO TRADE DEMO TRADE DEMO TRADE :D

I agree, I'll be demo trading. I just wanted to understand my options (no pun intended). Am I correct in assuming that the majority of brokers only offer either stock OR forex? And limited to native exchanges?

Irish brokers yes although you can trade stocks across exchanges.

Sounds like Interactive brokers are who your looking for once you trade for a while.

Thanks, did a bit of research there and found Interactive Brokers offer access to many exchanges.

I think I'm going to have to use separate brokers for stocks and Forex (if I get beyond my demo).

Take it handy, use the demo for a good few months then start to get into trading.

You seem to be taking the right approach.
