I find that a local motor factors is usually the best place. The likes of halfords are quite expensive.

How old is the car, what model is it, and how long can you see yourself keeping it?

I recently bought a bosch battery. And it is unbelievable the difference. i have a diesel astra and it now starts first touch of the key. Also look at the cold start capacity of the battery that is important.

Bosch ones for a tdi a4 start at €117 on micksgarage, which isn't too bad.

I got one (dont know wat brand) for my diesel avensis for about €80 last year. I wouldn't spend much if I was selling in a few months.

I paid 100 for mine in motor factors retail on it was supposedly 135 euro it was a Bosch s3 70ah 680 cca. A tdi battery is probably bit bigger but your probably looking at roughly that price for Bosch battery at motor factors.

It was €65. About average for that particular size/rating.
