Amazon Deutsche Post DHL delivery

    Hi guys,

    I ordered something off amazon which I need next week. To speed up the shipping processes, I decided to pay €7 extra for the standard shipping. I was a bit reluctant to order the good as it said "may require two extra days to deliver" however, when I placed the order the next day, the message was gone and it even offered me the "two day delivery for Ireland" shipping option.

    I placed the order and it got dispatched yesterday but I noticed that it has been sent by "Deutsche Post DHL" with no provided tracking number so it has been sent from Germany. Did anybody else here get stuff delivered though DHL before and was the arival estimate accurate? (Mine is scheduled to arive on Wenesday, which I'm fine with)

    We get parcels from Germany delivered by DHL regularily (6-8 each month). Most of them arrive within 3-4 working days but sometimes it may take up to 8 working days.

    Are you sure it said "two day delivery for Ireland" and not "Usually dispatches in 2 days"?

    I've noticed when ordering from Amazon lately that when it says "Usually dispatches in 2 days" it comes via DHL or Deutsche Post and always always always arrives at least a few days after the delivery date.

    Whats weird is, I order from the French and German Amazons quite a bit and even though it comes via DHL it tends to arrive on, or on the odd occasion, a day after the delivery date - very strange.

    The DHL tracking numbers are useless, once it gets into Ireland its handed to An Post and is untrackable from there - it seems this exchange between DHL and An Post causes the longer delay.
