Saw this in the paper today, I'll definitely tune in, wouldn't rate the cars in the new film though (except the DB5 they resurrected yet again)

If only 5th gear did it!

I'd tune in for the Lotus Esprit alone. Should be good.

I really hope they make a good programme and not just fcuk it up with silly jokes and the silly carry on that they are known for doing.

The Bond cars deserve a good showing and a good programme about them.

It will be interesting to hear what they have to say about when the car franchise was under German tenure. :D

It's Top Gear, expect Top Gear.
If you want 5th Gear then you should watch 5th Gear.

I'm looking forward to it. :)

Anyone know when the new series of Top Gear is starting??

I just read on tg.com that this is the start of the new series but on a Monday????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

I think they usually start around the second or third week of November and have a run of 6 episodes upto Christmas, the last one being the annual Christmas special.

Assuming they follow that trend of course.

Jeremy said on his Twitter about a month ago that they had only filmed 2 out of the 24 car reviews and short films that they had to film for the new series and that it would around January before its back. Hopefully he got that completely wrong though.
    Jeremy Clarkson ‏@jcrclarksonesq

Each Top Gear item takes 2 weeks to prepare, 5 days or so to film and 2 weeks to edit. So far we've done 2. We need another 22. Do the maths

The Christmas special is on in February according to Clarkson on FB a few weeks ago!

From what I've heard the Christmas special is going to be a stand alone episode and the new series will kick off at some point in spring.

I remember reading somewhere that they decided to delay the new series until the new year because of all the Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor hype.

Bottom line, no new series until the new year.

The nicest car so far - The toyota 2000gt convertible handsdown

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 15,858 ✭✭✭✭paddy147

I have to say fair play so far to Richard Hammond.

Hes doing the cars justice. Some interesting facts on how the Toyota became a convertible for the film.

Thank god Clarkson and May are not involved,as they would just fcuk it all up and ruin the programme.

Very good programme on the bond cars with no fcuking around.

To be fair, the other 3 milk being a part of Top Gear with countless books/dvds and other crap that I seem to get every Christmas. Why exclude him? plus it was a open secret who he was(not that I knew, but a lot of people did). Great episode, not really a bond fan but there was plenty of interesting little facts there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 871 ✭✭✭savagecabbages

Very good overall, bar the expected Hammond Brainiac crap (of which there was much less than expected)...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,661 ✭✭✭Voodoomelon

For me, Dalton's Aston V8 Vantage Volante steals the show.

Because he was employed with the specific requirement that he remain anonymous.

Respect to D Craig for picking out the Toyota, never knew there was one in a bond film

Whetted the appetite for new top gears

I don't want to go far off topic but, the BBC tried to sue him when he wanted to bring out his autobiography. As stated above the others make a fortune out of all their books DVDs. Why can't he tell his story? Most people with any interest knew he was the Stig anyway. I've seen him in other program's and he seems like a decent bloke.

    One the program. Excellent :)

Anyway it was a good programme, and I rather liked the invisible transit van/tv screen idea.

It did seem to work, but only from a distance and out in the countryside

The Lotus submarine was good too.

I noticed he was wearing that T-shirt over another t-shirt. Looks fresh out of it's packaging too, I'd say Top Gear did that specifically so they could have a few digs (which Collins obviously agreed to). Also, watch the episodes of him on Fifth Gear and what people said about "The Stig" when they were being shown around the Top Gear Track, sound lad.

    exactly what i thought ! :D

would have been great without hammonds voice-over tbh, the only thing that spoilt it for me (tends to annoy me on most of his shows so generally dont watch them)

    thought the transit was cool
