Evening watch fans. Maybe you can help me

Lurking in this forum, I came across Steinhart watches and they really do tick all my boxes. Swiss, automatic movement. Like this:



Don't need any fancy functions, just time and date are fine. I'm no diver but the watch needs to be waterproof for going swimming, showering, etc.

My budget is very, very limited though. I'm thinking €200, maybe a little bit more, but preferably less. Don't mind if the watch is second hand and slightly worn

Anyone spot any on eBay or elsewhere, please let me know on this thread! Really looking forward to owning and wearing a nice Steinhart

BTW, I don't prefer the black ones, or ones with green or red details. Blue is good though

+1 to Micro's suggestion. My only concern might be the quality of the water resistance if unkel's gonna be going swimming and showering in it. Apparently showering can sometimes be worse because of the thermal shock and detergents. Always sounded dubious to me tbh, but I've read enough posts in watch forums from people with the experience to think maybe...

The thing is, you're highly unlikely to get a Steinhardt for 200 Euro.

They are not a common brand and only really bought by watch nuts.
People like that either keep their watches forever, flip them immediately or keep them in a drawer and in perfect condition.

So when it comes to selling they're always going to be pretty close to their initial sales price of (currently) 350 Euro ...there simply aren't any (or only very, very few) Steinhardts out there in a condition that would represent the 200 Euro target price.

Can they only be bought online, I've been tempted to get the gmt master a few times but would like to see it in the flesh, is it identical to the real gmt?

but I think depending on where you buy from, it makes allowance

I read about one bloke who was shipping to UK but purchased from HK and it was vat free

Yepp, that's the one.

They seem to be all out of orange ones recently and the price for b/w ones has gone up from 229 to 249 incl. shipping.

I fear the wait might be on the long-ish side.

Every now and then some quondams pop up on the bay from Italian sellers with "suggest a price" ...this is where some people have got them for 200 or less.

I do have the feeling though that this particular model quondam might be out of production and nearing end of stock as there seemed to more of them about when I bought ...could be wrong though

Some answers from the seller: these were indeed manufactured in the same factory as the other clones of this watch, like the Davosa, Marc&Sons, Aeronautec, etc. The Quondams were manufactured about 3 years ago and so they are getting rare now to buy new, so peasant's feelings were spot on there

I'd highly recommend the seller. It's the same guy from Slovenia that peasant bought from - see his email up there ^^^ He has 2 left (black and white only)

And I've learned from this thread that the Steinharts keep their value exceptionally well. I will own one, one day!

Been stalking their site for a year almost now! Problem I keep facing is that there are always rumours of a new model coming out and indeed there are around now and early next.

Might finally bite the bullet soon...narrowed it down to two different ones which look very different

I thought it looked fantastic, I googled Wertex watches and came across a YouTube video showing watches being sold at huge discounts! Did'nt inspire confidence!

3 days early, my O1B has just come in the door...quickly un-wrapped it and have to say I am drooling over this watch...

First impressions for the price this watch is superb quality. Cant believe it was 5 times cheaper than my Link...:eek:

Will try to get some pics up the next few days but glad I went for the ceramic bezel...it looks excellent

yep - had been looking at the Apollon Chrono for ages hoping something similar would appear in a smaller size (it's quite large in dept I think)

but then I saw this advert which changed my mind

Didn't go for it at the time but with all the talk above I finally made up my mind to get one as I'd be forever waiting for a new model I liked as much otherwise.

Still iffy about the size but will see when it arrives.

Also bought the SS Bracelet to go with it but I prefer leather straps.
