Ya management type games ive gotten into lately, did you buy it or just try the demo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,892 ✭✭✭bizmark

I just did the trial which seems to be a fully operating version of the game bar some features which i haven't run into yet.Its fun enough find myself going back to it on and off i played the first one and this is a huge improvement over it the mouse steering is accurate if you dont have a steering wheel which i dont the management gives a sence of doing something rather than just drive around and the graphics are much much better with more interesting enviorments all in all a decend game maybe because i spent a large amount of my younger days in a truck with my dad though so defiantly not for everyone

I'm hungover today so this game was surprisingly relaxing to play. Haven't properly set it up with a controller since I'm playing it on the laptop rather than the desktop but I'm liking it so far. :pac:

Played this a few weeks back and was surprised how much i enjoyed it.
Hooked up my G25 wheel and H shifter gear stick, makes a huge difference.

Played the demo, really enjoyed it,I can't believe I'm thinking of buying a steering wheel for this as well as forking out for the full game

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 81,083 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sephiroth_dude

would it be worth forking out for a steering for this alone do ye think or would I be mad?

Lol,haven't got past the tutorial yet. Have desktop connected to tv in the sitting room and sitting too far back to be able to read the tutorial text.Seems like a good game to throw on for an hour or so every now and then.

Im so glad im not the only one playing this. honestly its a bit embarrassing :o

    Anyone got any tips/tricks?

Im on level 6 I think. own 2 trucks, 3 drivers, upgraded garage in Paris.

My tip, I went looking for ages for my first truck. I settled on the Valiant F16H Sleeper. @ its price point of ~€100 000, its blows the competition away with its 600bhp. for an extra 5k, you can upgrade that to a 700hp engine.

avoid the UK. it pays low and the any long distance jobs means you have to catch the ferry/train to the mainland, which comes out of your own salary. €1300 for the ferry is quite the chunk out of what you earn for the job.

For skills, I maxed out my ADR training first. it opens up loads of jobs in the 8k - 13k region. Then a bit on the long distance stuff and now im seeing if its worth doing the "just-in-time" skills. Ill report back.

lastly, dont drive close behind other vehicles on the open road. they randomly stop. the last numpty who stopped his van in the middle of nowhere without even a turn off or anything cost me €22k in repairs :(:(:(

save your progress all the time!

Dont see why its embarrassing its bizzarely fun and keeps you playing for unlocks and management

    Drifting in ETS2:

for some reason I couldnt stop laughing :D:D

I started playing this yesterday evening and it's strangely addictive. A descent wheel makes a big difference. I've even started using the sequential gear shifters as indicators. Thanks for the heads up Tea!!

Level 3 here at the mo. First delivery I drove 4 red lights and hit the back of 3 cars, and then jacked the truck trying to park it.

Really surprised they want to hire me after that charade :pac:

I rolled the truck on my first one, had to call in a tow wagon. I've been a lot more cautious since then.

im on my 3rd profile :o

first one i "learned" how to park.

second one i took out a 400k loan and totaled the truck. figured starting again is better than paying the fines.

gonna start trying a few mods:

    new volvo interior

    trailer skin pack

Realistic physics mod - which removes the speed limiter :D

what steering wheel do you have?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Bloodwing

what steering wheel do you have?

I have the G27. It's a good wheel for the price. You'd be looking at 1000+ for something better.

I'm so glad to see all the closet ETS players coming out of the woodwork! :D Been playing this for a while now too. Damn relaxing I must say. I love throwing on my weekly podcasts and trucking along with this. It's so much better than I thought it would be. I'd love a steering wheel for it too.

No chair with it I'm afraid. It's just the wheel, pedals, and shifter.

I have 2 drivers now and they are utterly useless i as a driver made an average of 21,000 a day they have made 230 each well worth the 205,000 euro in trucks there ;/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,983 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

they get better, but not much it seems. i hit level 10 there. got 2 drivers @ class 2.5. 1 brings in just under 1k a day, and the other €580

im making enough to pay off my loan installments, but its going to take a while. im going to put all my skill points into expensive cargo and long haul, cause i heard of a guy making 65k a trip with that :/

either way, at the moment it looks like hiring drivers is a waste of time. they earn way too little to pay for their trucks/garage upgrades in a reasonable timeframe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Bloodwing

I keep getting E-mails from the bank offering me loans but so far I've resisted. If I stopped getting done for speeding at least 3 times per job I might be able to afford the repayments.

I'm getting about €8000 per job now so I'll stick with that for a bit.

Did you try out any of the mods Tea? I'm tempted to try the physics mod.

iv the physics mod installed its definatly more truck like now with the cab bouceing about and gear ratios slightly changed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,983 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

yea they're great. the removed speed limiter is also a huge bonus. 140kph makes the jobs far faster. I love the trailer skin too. nothing like hauling a DHL trailer. just installed a petrol station skin that makes them real ones now, like Shell, BP, Texaco etc, but don't have time to test til tomorrow.

    its the little things :-)

its not still a good game even a few days later

So for those looking in on this thread and thinking "wait, what??", could anyone explain the pluses of this game? I presume you have to be into management games in the first instance to enjoy this, but what's the appeal here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,983 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

its just really relaxing and enjoyable. I dunno. honestly though, try the demo. it appears that the management side of things doesn't add much value to the game in that your hired drivers don't make much money, so you could probably leave that part out all together.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,940 ✭✭✭Corkfeen

This is slowly becoming a sleeper hit.... Will there be a zombie mod?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Bloodwing

To be honest I can't figure out why I'm enjoying the game so much, all I know is someone in Glasgow is waiting on a load of hot chemicals so I don't have the time to be hanging around here answering questions.

would look into this, but Im currently addicted to farming simulator 2013

    (not joking :o)
