    Hi,
I Was looking for a Small Laptop/Ultrabook to use on the train and bus and to bring to college with me for internet and some light games but I'd want to get one that will last a few years not a cheaper one to replace in a year, either an 11.6" or a 13.3"

I'm in Enniskillen for a few days and today in Currys/PCWorld I saw a nice Samsung 13.3" Ultrabook but I wanted to see if its worth it before I was going to buy it

    Model number is NP530U3C-A01UK
    http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/pc-peripherals/notebook-computers/ultra-portable/NP530U3C-A0BUK

    Specs are
    Intel® Core™ i5-3317UM (1.7 GHz (up to 2.6 GHz with TurboBoost), DMI 5 GT/s 3 MB Cache)
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    Intel® HD Graphics 4000
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235, 2x2 802.11 abg/n Widi Support
    1366 x 768 300nit anti-reflective HD LED Display
    500GB SATA (5400rpm) and 24GB Expresscache SSD

It was £849.99(€1057.54) reduced to £499.91(€622) in the shop, although its £699.99 on the website and £599.99 in their catalogue/brochure

Here are some pics I took

So is it any good? opinions?

Should have taken the laptop rather than pics!!! :D

    Seriously, it's a great deal.

Personally, I don't like hybrids, but SSDs aren't that expensive anymore if you want to upgrade it yourself.

Seems like a pretty good deal. Haven't seen that particular one in the flesh, but any Samsung I have come across over the past few years I have been impressed with, even their budget models.

Would even buy sub 100 euro SSD like the Samsung 830 128 GB, and pop that in instead of the HDD and you'd really have a nice little machine.

Thanks, I thought it was good but wouldn't want to jump in and buy it without reviews and info first,

Whats the Intel HD Graphics 4000 like? what kind of programs and games would it be up to?

    Read this.

As I said before, not exactly gaming material but it can play many modern games in low or medium detail settings. Of course, you should abandon the idea of playing Battlefield 3 or Skyrim on it. :D

Well I went in to buy it today, but it was the last one:(, so it was either get the display model or leave it, it was covered in marks and scratches and had been there for over 4 months so decided to I leave it,
So now I'm looking for a 11.6"-13.3" laptop for up to €600

this was just too good a deal to miss.

You will find nothing like it, LD has a few 13.3 inch laptops, but only older Sandy Bridge i3 and they're not really thin and light. The only one in this category would be this Sammy for €585, pretty much the same as the one you saw in Currys, except it only has an AMD A-6 processor, nothing really to write home about.

I'd like to talk to whoever put the security devices on the palm rest. Who the hell is in charge of merchandising at that store, that just looks stupid.

It was a great deal and I was ready to buy it but it was the last one, the display model I could have got had been there for months, the other ones had probably been sold last week, so I didn't want to get it if its been there for months being left turned on for the full day every day, covered in scratches and being touched by everyone, which would probably lead to more problems later on so I'd want to get a new one

The £499 price tag is probably the reduced price for the one on exhibition only because this model costs a lot more elsewhere. Amazon is selling it for over 700 quid. And they deal in much bigger numbers than any B&M store.

Just spotted this thread, just as I was about to put up my own one on regarding the NP530U3C.

I've never had an Ultrabook before...is there any big difference than a normal laptop, and is the NP530U3C a good one?
