    Haha :D

Should be longer considering his extremely dodgy history! And out of all things he supposedly has done, his links to the mafia, corruption, bankrupting Italy, bribery, electon fraud, prostitutes, sex with minors he gets jailed for tax fraud!!

So some of the prostitutes he slept with will be over the legal age of consent when he gets out....

Just said on the news that it will take another 3 years in appeals at least.

I love the way there is a Wikipedia page devoted to his legal issues alone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trials_and_allegations_involving_Silvio_Berlusconi

With at least two levels of appeal to go through in Italy's glacial judicial system and given that the aul hoor is 76, the likelihood that he will ever see the inside of a prison is extremely remote.

And the seismologists get 6 years.

Aye was just about to post that.

    Where is the consistency!?

In fairness, I hope his appeal is successful as can you imagine being locked up in a small cell after living his exuberant and lavish lifestyle, would be torture - how would he even begin to pasta time away.

He won't see jail, atleast not in the next ten years, appeals in italy can take forever.

He will pay the fine (10million, nothing to him) and the sentence will be suspended.

Am I missing something? Or is OP saying that a common pizza topping has been sent to jail?

    sex with minors

Not actually illegal though, unless they are under the age of consent.

I mean, I can sleep with a 17 year old if I wanted to, would be weird but not illegal.

Hopefully this is a signal that Irish political crooks can follow suit.

    Well, unusual.

Love how guys trying to look blokey always use his "legendary" shagging of much younger women habits to exonerate him from anything at all. "Ah in fairness, he was connected to mafia murderers", "But shur the man was riding loads of young ones, he's a legend." :pac:

Saw in the news that there is some overcrowding law so the sentence will be commuted to one year. Due to his age, there is no way he will go to prison.

What is a complete joke is that he gets a 3 year ban from politics!!

    Bunga bunga..
Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has been found guilty of paying for sex with an underage prostitute.
The 76-year-old was sentenced to seven years in prison and banned from holding public office by a judge in Milan. http://news.sky.com/story/1107593/silvio-berlusconi-found-guilty-in-sex-trial

He'll appeal it and get off I wager

At least in Italy he ends up in court. Whereas here in PaddyLand his sentence would be Sweet Feck All..

We need some Italian justice here :-) for many of our previous leaders...

Net result is the same....no jail time for him. I note there is no talk of him losing his media empire, football teams etc.

    Carry on as normal.

    Carry on Silvio.

Just seen on Sky, Guilty 7 yrs ...We can just edit the footage to superimpose Brian Cowen instead of SB and that will be as close as we get to see punishment for any of our politicians..

He's more likely to die of natural causes by the time the appeals process is over than go to jail.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-23034167
But Mr Berlusconi will not have to spend any time in jail unless the lengthy appeals process is exhausted.
    ...
Even then he may escape prison because of lenient sentencing rules for people over the age of 70.
    ...
Despite Mr Berlusconi's statements of loyalty to Mr Letta, many analysts believe he could withdraw his support if he decides the government is not giving him enough protection.
