    Samsung.
But both are LCD. The LED is only a backlight. There are real LED TVs, but not in the shops.

32" is very small for a living room. Maybe it's a small flat, bedroom or kitchen?

Can't comment on features w/o knowing the specific models, but if they are similar and both are Saorview approved then go for the Panasonic. That brand has has a lower failure rate on TVs than Samsung. (Both are good but Panasonic is the better built and more reliable product).

Have Panasonic finally got the finger out and updated their firmware to be Saorview compatible? Saw an ad on TV last night (during the 9 o'clock new I think), for D.I.D. advertising 42" Samsung & Panny smart TV's. They showed an image of the Panny with a 'Saorview Approved' logo across the screen.

Just wondering if this is just a 'sales patter' thing or are Panasonic now fully working with irish digital.

The Saorview site lists all approved equipment incl Panasonic. Panny are still selling at least one unapproved model. All the TVs currently sold by Sony and Samsung are approved. There seems to be a few LG models that are not approved, although most of their range is.

Anecdotal or do you have official figures? Historically Panasonic do not fix existing firmware issues and have had many issues, HW and Firmware over the years. Panasonic are certainly not cheap to buy.

Anecdotal but based on feedback from repair agents and retailers. For many years product reliability was the only thing Panasonic had going for them. They tried to get away with selling deficient sets (not approved, no MHEG) for a couple of years, but they seem to have learned their lesson.

Samsung still seem to be able to market low cost small screen models but as screen size increases and features are added the price difference between Samsung, Panasonic and LG reduces considerably.

Thanks Guys for the info,it's for the bedroom alright.Just had a look in DID at both TV's and the Panasonic comes with a 5 year warranty and the samsung only 1 year. Both the Televisions look good so I think with the 5 year warranty that's what I'll go for.

I notice the Saorview site has changed and the list of approved TVs is nowhere to be seen (well I can't see it anyway).

Only mention of approved kit is Walkers

Try www in front. Without it it takes you to an old version.

It may be the case in his shop, but in general make sure it is on the approved list.

Crap. No TV comes with a one year warranty. 2 years is enshrined in your statuary rights. The Sale of Goods Act gives you six years protection.

Panachronic have shown themselves to cripple sets for one country only and have poor after sales service. Avoid them at all costs.

But surely if they sell you a TV now that doesn't receive the country's terrestrial signal you would be fully entitled to a refund?

Plus Argos have a decent refund policy if not happy. I once returned a Hitachi TV that had awful picture quality. No questions asked.

I think its hardly in their interest to see non-Saorview approved TVs as they will get them returned.
