Can anyone recommend me a weekend holiday destination in Europe that is good for myself as a nature lover? I'd like to avoid tourist trap so I'd like to see some green or white.

    Any ideas?

R U interested in birding, mammal watching or what?? Its coming to the end of the major bird migration season across Europe so you'd need to hurry to hit the hot spots that are around the Med like Tarifa in Spain and certain islands in Greece. Majorca although a "touristy" spot is quieter at this time of year and has some good nature reserves like Albufeira in the South which are great for birding. For mammals Poland has some good place like the Bialiozwa(spelling possible dodgy there!!) forest in the east where you should be able to view Wild Boar, Bison, various Deer species and possbily wolf. Northern Spain can be good too for this kind of thing and I think their are certain wildife holiday firms like Naturetrek that run tours there.

+1 for S'Albufera in Mallorca. Plus they sell a guide book in the visitor centre to a whole load more Mallorcan birding spots. The Llevant nature reserve is great if you like walking.

Cape Clear? Great for birds and beer! At this time of year the Cape Clear Bird Observatory http://www.oilean-chleire.ie/birdObservatory have special cheap offers on accommodation. For 'wild' life Cape Clear is the place to go but you may find the ferry crossing a bit rough during the winter months. :D
