Just got an email about this...

The predictive power of Swiftkey with the swiping of Swype? Looks good to me!

I never even tried swype but i'm a long time swiftkey fan, i've signed up for the beta

Just got that mail myself, I'd switched to Swype from Swiftkey, but would definitely want to try this. The best of both by the looks of it!

    + a gazillion.

If it has that neon trail it'd be wicked too. Really is best of both worlds if it works technically as well as swype. Often found myself wanting to be able to auto switch KB contextually but with this I won't need to. Now to get my grubby hands on this beta...:pac:

I'm a big Swype fan, having moved there from Swiftkey, interesting how this compares.

I also switched from Swiftkey to Swype and remember there being one or two things that Swype did less well (it pretends not to recognise or remember swear words, for one thing and it's a pain to install it on a new device) but overall the swipiness was worth it.

This should be interesting, if it's free.

It does but from my experience no keyboard comes close to SwiftKey in terms of prediction and accuracy

Received an email from swiftkey today. Email just stated that it's nearly ready for beta testing. Meh.

Same here. They're taking their time with it.

But looks more like a swiftkey flow light with touchwhizzzz foreced on top. Its nowhere near the beta in promo video

I'm quite looking forward to this.
I'm a big fan of swift key, but love the flow style too.

Really hope we see this out soon.

    Bring it on!!

Really looking forward to this. Swype is driving me mad since I upgraded to JB. In some apps, particularly the browser, auto-space doesn't work.

Yeah, I have that too. Have you tried the new default Android keyboard with swipe in 4.2? I'm using it on my Nexus 7. Not too sure on it yet.

I was using it for about a week. Needs a lot more work. :(

    Back using swype for now.

Yeah, I'm considering the same, I'm hoping this Swiftkey turns out good, Swype has it's issues

Wow, first impressions are very good. After coming from Swype this just feels so much more comfortable. I've imported all sources, Facebook, Twitter, Sms and Gmail and it works really well. Definitely a keeper for me.

No, worked out of the box for me, you sure you don't have an old version of Swiftkey installed previously, I'd remove it if you do.

Yep, it's the only version I have installed and the flow part is definitely not working :-( I'm on a Galaxy Note II here!??

    Cheers,

The swipe right to left across the keys to delete words isn't working for me

    Hi all,

Works pretty well from what I can see so far. Does love the battery though. Plus the swishy line is really cool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Works very well here. Some words take a bit of work (try "pretty" - all letters are on the same line, so you have to pause a little bit around each letter) but otherwise I really like it.

    Noticeably better than Swype?
Can it import dictionaries from other apps by any chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,369 ✭✭✭madmoe

Loving the speed of it most so far guys!

Yeah got the beta earlier, its really nice to have the predictions so much more accurate than others i was using

Haven't used swype for years, so I can't comment.
You can install it and use it, even if you have swype installed.
You're not going to lose anything.

There is no option to import from other applications, but it can analyse your SMS sent items, twitter account, facebook account and gmail for your writing style and words you use.

Posting this from my nexus 7 now with the tablet version. Doesn't feel like a beta at all. It's definitely a keeper for me on both devices. Swipe right to left delete not working on this either.

Gonna try it on my Nexus 10 later today.....

I'm posting this from my S3 having used SwiftKey x for ages. It's hard to get used to but it's identical to X if I need to use it normally!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

The swipe left to right delete not working for me either, but I think thats because its the flow keyboard now.

Liking it a lot now. Swiftkey is one of the best out there and this will make it even bigger

Not so far for me but I'm sure it will take some getting used to. i find it better than swype for regular typing but not for swiping if you follow me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,971 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

So far I kind of prefer Swype but I'm going to give it a chance to win me over. I'm a creature of habit anyway. It does seem nice though. A definite second to Swype if it doesnt overtake it.

Anyone know the story of when this comes out of beta?

Does it become a pay to continue to use kinda thing? is there a discount?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

The beta is usually time-limited. Earlier betas of the regular SwiftKey had to be updated every few weeks or they'd stop working (you'd have to use the stock keyboard instead).

There will be a launch discount which early adopters will no doubt grab if they want to keep using it.
