Ah, well, the difference will be that your Sora is 9 speed where is tiagra is 10 speed.

You could swap out your current sora shifters for the new sora shifters, which are EXACTLY the same as lasy years tiagra except they are 9 speed instead of 10 speed and are sold black, will be a cheaper option and will be more compatible with your derailluers.

It won't be cheap though, you're probably talking the guts of €180 for two new shifters.

Might be worth asking in the cycling adverts sub forum if anyone has a set of old 9 speed tiagra or 105 shifters for sale instead!

    no, they are 11 speed.
And if you have sora 3400 groupset are likely to cost as much as your bike, in fariness...

Unless they are old and are 9 speed.

they would be compatible and be a LOT better than new sora shifters!

    €130 is a bargain.

I'd imagine that you should be able to do the shifters for less than that if you watch for a set on the 'bay that's been swapped out.

Sora/Tiagra stuff is often cheap having been upgraded.
The 9sp Tiagra is excellent when setup right.

ok if buying a set of shifters on ebay, should i be wary of sellers in china/tiwan...ie are their shifters "official" products

I've not bought from Asian suppliers but instead get stuff from Euro based private sales.
Many folk suffer from "Component Creep" so they swap out for higher grade stuff hence lots of nearly new midrange stuff like Tiagra/105 & Rival gets swapped out for Ultegra/Force etc.

Those Dura-Ace look like a great option however beware that its a slippery slope.
Next it'll be derailers, then the chainset, a seat-post there and a stem or three here. You'll be on first name terms with the DHL guy and before you'll know it you're hiding new components 'round the house from your other half like a drunk hiding booze.

Generally I think the best one-off upgrade tends to be the wheelset though.

haha...im doing that already, im convinced my postman thinks im dealing drugs with the ammount of packages coming to my house.....and before anyone asks no im not lance armstrong....

re best one off upgrade, do you mean changing the currents wheels to somthing along the lines of the mavic ksyrim?
