Austin comments on Sheamus

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who writes a column for Fighting Spirit Magazine, offered his opinion on reigning World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus during a recent issue while discussing WWE's World Titles and how their importance level has never been lower. Though Austin considers the Irish grappler talented, he doesn't feel Sheamus is ready to be champion.

Austin wrote, "Sheamus is a big talented dude, no doubt about it. Can he get to where the company wants him to go? That remains to be seen, and there's a lot of work required from both him and the company in order to jump to that superstar level. He's doing fine for the amount of time he's been in the business, and there is no disrespect intended, but there are so many aspects that go towards making a guy draw money with the title."

    Sheamus replied on Twitter:

"Appreciate words from @steveaustinBSR - i strive to get better everyday fella & hard work is something i love.. See me bring Hell in a Cell."

    Austin replied:

"@WWESheamus Go get em, kid. Always be a student of the game and keep working hard. Safe travels. #respect from the #BSR"

Fair criticism.. I think the problem with Sheamus is that he isn't suited to be a face. If they turned him heel, he wouldn't be a better champion. They are watering his character down too much.

He does seem to be very popular with the kids though which is obviously important to WWE.

The thing that bugs me with Sheamus is I don't think he knows himself what his character is supposed to be. Austin knew what he wanted his character to be. So did Rock. So did Punk. Does Sheamus? He just comes across like a WWE manufactured guy. Maybe he's scared to fight his corner and have more input. Perhaps he is frightened they'll bury him like they did when they gave him that lousy King Sheamus angle with the goofy costume.

Has he switched into cruise control since winning the belt and is just jumping through hoops for fear of losing hit spot to Randy Orton or Rey Mysterio perhaps?

Good words, he is a good worker and a good performer, but he is the one that is doing all the face work for the company at events and such, and hes good with kids. Hes come a long way since his SOS days!

Needs a bit more bite to his character but its unlikely as he is playing the comedy aspect while also being a total ass kicker in the ring!

They should turn him heel but i really bad one like when they had Orton destroying everyone...When Orton was heel he was arguably the most hated wrestler ever
