    Howdy,

    I'm thinking of purchasing a second hand 500d DSLR with an 18 - 55mm lens for €380.
It seems a good price but as this will be my first DSLR i have no idea what to look at to see if its in good nick.
I will check for cracks/ drop marks, lens for mold or water but what about the bits and pieces? Light meter etc.

I do a lot of photography as in I always have a camera and use them to display but the subject and quality is severely limited by my (very nice) point and shoot camera.

From those who know is the 500D enough of a jump from a 2 year old 8 mega pixel cannon ixus?

If not I can buy a 450 for €80 less with the same lense, invest in other lenses and keep saving for a new 650 or some other dream machine. I hope all this makes sense.

    Thanks for reading.
