Switchover Issue

Ok, so in my house we have 2 LG HD TVs and the one in our kitchen has been fine with channels before/after the switchover, picks up everything UK and Irish alike.

However, the other TV in my sitting room hasn't been able to pick up the Irish channels before or after the switchover, a black screen with HD Service only is coming up. Is there anything I can do to fix this or am I not going to be able to pick up Irish channels at all on it?

It must be an MPEG2 set only so all you can do is modulate the signal from another Freeview HD box or tv using an old VCR or DVD recorder or buy a new Freeview HD or Saorview tv or box unfortunately. :)

I've searched everywhere to see if it is, there's no word of it in the manual or diagnostics on the tv itself, how on earth do I confirm this :pac:

Well if it already has a caption saying that it cannot do HD and there is only sound from radio stations and no picture then one can be pretty sure it has an MPEG2 tuner/decoder built in only. Is the signal overloaded or very weak at that televisions point?

Yeah pretty much, audio only on radio stations :( Not sure what you mean by the signal? When I run diagnostics it shows 41, 45 and a couple of others as weakish signals, but it doesn't show the rte channels at all, diagnostics only seems to show the ones with weak signals not the non existent ones.

This seems to be a very old model - the manual is from 2007/2008.http://www.lg.com/uk/support-product/lg-42PG6010#

No model that old supports Saorview - MPEG-4 High Profile Level 4.0 did not arrive on until late 2008/ early 2009.

    Lars :)

Damn, so a saorview box is my only option?

Looks like I'll have to watch the football in the kitchen tonight :pac:

TWO years fit for purpose / as described/ free from Defects. Take it back. A credit card statement is nearly as good as a receipt for proof of purchase.

Yes, there were a few of the more expensive models from tier one brands -
Your V4500 is a new 2008 model and - I think - the first Sony 1280x768 model with MPEG-4 HP L4.0 support. Its manuals are written (PDF file creation date) in Q2 and Q3 2008.

Boxer/Teracom stopped approving MPEG-2 STB's/IDTV's April 1. 2008 for Sweden, but the first list of approved IDTV's with MPEG-4 support came out months later.

    Lars :)

It was a model they sold in France and UK/Ireland. The UK/iRELAND online specs at the time did not mention MPEG4 tuner, but when you checked on the French site it did.
