    Hi,

Does anyone know what are the chances of purchasing Cup Final Tickets? I'm not a member of any club, I've looked on Ticketmaster but none are available. Are they already sold out or are tickets rteleased on a phased basis? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Pretty much gone the day they went on sale I'm afraid.
Mostly Sold to exuberant Leinster fans in post coital bliss, the day after the last final!!

Were they all released or are there going to be more phases released?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

Not sure but I think they released everything that isn't going to the finalist clubs

They usually release more to the general public closer to the time but since the Aviva is relatively tiny there may not be any more left to release.

There are none left except the final teams allocations.

Thanks Durkadurka. Are they really all gone? I bought Final tickets in January in 2006 when the pool stages weren't over without any difficulty. Unfortunately, I had to sell them again as my son's communion was on the following day! Podge irl seems very definite when he says they are all gone.
I'm trying to organise a group of 8 of us to go to the Final from Carlow; I don't know whether we should book a hotel and hope we pick up tickets somewhere along the line. We can't afford to pay much more than face value in any event. Do we just give up and watch it in the pub? I really want to go to a European final, regardless of who is playing!

They go on sale the day after the final, generally. With the final being in Dublin, in a relatively small capacity stadium and with Irish teams being quite strong at the moment it isn't too surprising to hear they're all gone. I know we got our the day after the last final in Twickenham.

I'd say you'll pick some up when the two final teams are known.

.... unless the two finalists are Irish teams

06 was in Cardiff which is about one and a half times the size of aviva and no welsh teams made the quarters.

This time Leinster are defending double champions so many Leinster fans bought up tickets as soon as they were released assuming that their team would get to the final again and it would be all but a home game anyway

If Leinster get knocked out I'd say a lot of tickets will become available.

Unfortunately Irish provincial rugby fans are the most optimistic and generally have always bought tickets early. Add this to the fact that last year saw an All Ireland Final, the capacity of the stadium and the fact that Ireland hasn't held the final in 10 years and unfortunately there was a run on tickets as soon as they went up

I agree - if Leinster get knocked out I'd say a fair few tickets will surface. I'd say an awful lot of the tickets were sold to Leinster fans last May. Otherwise you're probably out of luck for the aforementioned small stadium, Irish teams in form, optimistic fans reasons.

I don't think so. Most Leinster fans live in Dublin, so the ticket is basically your only expense unlike previous years where you had to factor in flights, hotels etc. I have a ticket and I'll be going regardless of who's playing, I'd have thought a lot of other people will be in the same boat.

[Also, I'd imagine that a lot of Munster, Ulster and Connacht fans bought tickets too]

+1 have travelled to see Leinster the last 2 years and picked up tickets as soon as available this year.
As it is only a stroll down the road I'm planning on going regardless.

If I decide not to go it will probably be last minute as there is no other expense riding on it.

You need 8 tickets to a match that sold out a year before it's being played and you can't pay much more than face value? Don't get your hopes up. Even if no Irish team makes the final, the demand for the tickets being sold on is going to be immense.

you could try get tickets for the Amlin cup final which is on the night before in the RDS, i think tickets are still available...as things stand Munster & Leinster might be more likely in the Amlin Final than the HC final...

Thanks guys. Obviously, I've been naive to think I would be able to buy them now (or at any time over the past 6/8 weeks before the competition even started!).:o Thanks again

Not really naive. If it was in any other stadium you'd be right.

    Croke Park?

Did I read that some allocation is held back for the teams that get to the final. If that's the case and Leinster got to the final again might some be available as a lot of Leinster fans/season ticket holders have presumably bought tickets already?

    Croke Park?

Yeah, but that's different because we knew what teams were involved...

There would be about 20-30% tickets held for the finalists I believe, yeah.

Think its 15,000 tickets kept back for the finalists. That's only 7,500 for Leinster fans and they'll all get taken up by STHs.

Ha yeh, but both you and I know the circumstances are very different.

Now, if we draw away in France again this year my Final tickets will be looking good. ;)

Yep, as its on in Ireland I bought tickets, even though we have no chance of being in it. Have a cousin in England who goes every year wherever its on, just for the craic, so will be good excuse to go on the beer with him too :)
