Will Three Rock get a power upgrade tomorrow

    Hi

Currently we have some breakup on our Saorview with the aerial pointed at Three Rock.

Will the DTT signal from there improve tomorrow when the analogue is switched off? Or is it already at full power?

I know I will find out for sure tomorrow, but I wanted to know in advance :-)

Not one of the transmitters planned for a power increase.

Your aerial might be causing the problem or something is causing interference. How are you receiving Saorview at the moment? Is it a roof / loft aerial or a set top aerial?

When did the problem start? You could have too much signal, rather than too little.

It's a roof aerial, definitely not too much signal according to my TVs. We are near the coast and the relief of the land means that the aerial does not have easy "line of sight" to the transmitter.

Try manual scans of Ch54, 30 and 52 and see what the results are like.

There are still a couple of red 'coverage in Oct. 2012' areas on the Saorview map attributed to Three Rock (inland, as it happens). Probably just an anomaly.

Signal quality readings on your tv would be poor if the tuner was being overloaded. Afaia, most tuners have decent tolerance for overly strong signals & problems are usually caused by amplifiers in the aerial system.

Did you always have this problem, or did it only start with the channel change in July? Presumably you're actually receiving on channel 30?

Yes, channel 30. Problem has always been there, we only moved in over the summer.

I realise I could get Sky (we have a great Freesat solution installed already) but I really don't want to, 99% of our viewing is standard channels (Irish or UK)

I might get the installer to try the Louth transmitter, looks like it got a power lift today.

So, looks like CC is our answer, coming in very strongly now on 52! I think this must be new or increased in the last 24h, I am sure it wasn't there before.

I believe Clermont switched to it's permanent new channel 52 today, and got a power boost at about 1pm.
Clermont on ch53 will be switched off soon.
