Form 11 Tax Returns & Sole Trader question

    Hi,
I wonder can anyone help me. I had a Sole Trader business from August 2011 to May 2012. I actually have never started trading so there are no sales, etc. I sent a letter to Revenue what do I need to fill in to get taxation sorted out. I've just received a reply:

"In answer to your query you will need to fill in Form 11 Tax Returns for 2011 and 2012. If you have no income you can fill in the details as nil income. You're not required to fill in the return for 2011 by the 31st October but you will be required to fill in both your 2011 ans 2012 returns by the 31st of October 2013."

Does it mean I don't need to fill it in this year and I need to do both of them next year?

Also what sections do I need to fill in if I had a Sole Trader? It has 24 pages so I'm not sure do I need to fill in everything especially I if I had no income.

I'd suggest you fill in the 2011 return and send it now. Then de-register for Income Tax.

I am assuming you can't pay an accountant to help, that being the case then I would suggest you contact your local Citizens Information office who may be able to set up an appointment with CAVA for you, this is a free service.
