Gas fire w/electricity to wood fire conversion

Hey, was wondering if anybody had an opinion on what this would set me back or if it's realistic.

From what I understand it was originally a normal fire, then converted to gas (cylinder outside) then later converted to electricity (i.e. I can no longer see the gas pipe and they stuffed a socket at the back that powers one of those fake stove things).

I've taken some photos. It looks pretty small to me but I'm not sure if that's an issue or not. Really I just wondering if this is worth getting somebody in to look. I'd much prefer a real fire, the electric thing is kind of tacky.

The upwards picture may be a little hard to interpret, but the part on the bottom of the pic is pretty steep and the flue has been stuffed with insulation that I haven't yet taken out.

Anybody want to take a guess?
