    I'm looking to buy the wife a laptop for college. I usually buy Asus brand. I came across this laptop Samsung Series 9 NP900X3C and gets decent reviews. Its about 870Gbp. Anyone got one of these or suggest something better. It needs to be light weight, compact, good screen, ssd

    You do know that you can't upgrade the memory in the Sammy? (it's soldered)

    Thanks Torqay, I did'nt realise there was such a difference in processors, that core i7 is in a different league to the i5. The RAM being soldered is putting me off. I might wait and see what the reviews of the Ultra Note are like, its alot heavier than the samsung, then again I won't be carrying it :)

    I know, the Sammy is gorgeous and it's a lot about looks with the girls. But if I was to spend 1,000 yoyos on a notebook, I much prefer bang for buck and the UltraNote isn't exactly clumsy, does have a DVD writer and there's something to be said a for a 3 yr warranty... I suppose I'm more the practical type. ;)

    There's another thread running, PC World/Currys seem to have some good Ultrabook deals going at the moment.
