City buses don't come in from Headford.

Some of the regional buses do, though.

Burkes run some buses from Headford. Ref: http://www.burkesbus.com/index.php Services in the morning go to the university.

Depending on what day you are travelling, some other companies run student services that may be helpful too - links on http://www.galwaytransport.info/2008/12/regional-bus-services-burkes-run-daily.html

Some of Bus Éireann's services go through to the university / hospital area. Or if they end at the railway station, you could catch a city bus to get to the university area. See the university neighbourhood map for details of which buses.

From Corrib Park on Headford Road across the river to NUIG?
I don't think there are buses that travel that way but not sure.
The 407 goes from Cluain Riocaird into the square
Corrib students seem to walk or bike across the bridge.
