Diesel to Petrol

I currently have a torquey saloon sized diesel car. 140 bhp and 250 or so lbs of torque. I like the power in the diesel.

Thinking of going to for example the 1.4 tsi 122 bhp engine on the golf or jetta.

Would this be a totally crap drive compared to the diesel ?

And a note : I know there are 140 and 170 bhp versions of the 1.4 tsi but I'm only concerned with the 122 bhp version. And please no mention of mapping as someone almost invariably mentions that.

It won't have the pulling power you like,

It'll certainly be different to the diesel that's for sure! Go and take one for a spin.

You won't have the same low down grunt. Power band is much more spread throughout the rev range. Much higher redline. Much more fun if it's the right car and right port tunnel

You have 140BHP car and you want to go to 122BHP.
Unless new car is way lighter than previous it is going to be slower.
But I can't see it as a big difference.

Also difference characteristics is a thing you will have to get used to. Diesel pulls from low rev, while in petrol you have to rev the engine to unleash the power
