Vodafone @ Home Connection Issues

Hello I have Vodafone @ Home broadband and its been grand for the past few months but lately I have a rather annoying problem. The router (White vertical one) constantly on a regular basis drops the connection. It could happen within 10mins or it could be an hour but it just randomly drops the connection and reboots itself! This is very frustrating when you want to play online with friends. I have the latest router firmware. I am nearly sure its the router. It'd be great if a Vodafone representative would give me an opinion on this matter or anyone else for that matter. I would hope that Vodafone would send me out a new router if at all possible to (fingers crossed) fix my problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Other than that Vodafone has been great. Regards

I've recently had the same problems with VF using a BT Voyager router - I'be tried swapping it ou for VF router on a number of occasions and its no netter and usually worse. I'v disconnected all phones etc and its still not right - spoken to VF support at least 3 times now and still not sorted - try the support number, or the talk to VF boards forum

Yup it is most likely the router as I can't think of any other source to the problem hopefully we can get a Vodafone rep on here to help

I'll borrow my old mans VF router and give it a while - I could get onto his wireless when I was at his place last week

So will any old DSL router work? I might try and get one for cheap but first I need to get a reply from Vodafone themselves! Thanks

Sure, will do. Strangely about 10:30 last night my tablet finally got internet access.

OP if you have an old Eircom router lying around - it will also do the job.

I'm been seeing similar issues with an old Eircom Netopia router too... Logs on the netopia indicate that the CHAP auth is failing (right after the router rebooted)...

00:00:00:30 PPPOE: PPP Session ID = 0x033f is closed
00:00:00:30 PPPOE: Sending PADT packet for PPP , Session 0x033f is closed
00:00:00:30 Reason: Remote refused our authentication attempt
00:00:00:30 PPP: CHAP authentication failed, Channel 1
00:00:00:30 chap: received failure, id 98
00:00:00:30 chap: received challenge, id 98

suspect it's a router issue (seeing it with 2 different netopias though) so will be trying another model over the weekend. :/

Ironically, ever since I borrowed the router (not used yet), my connection has been pretty solid! Am waiting for the connection to fail before trying alternate router

Connection was impossible this evening from my tablet, so tried my fathers vf router which was perfect at his address. It was useless. It seemed to be even less fault tolerant than my own Vf router, even though it seemed to be the same model in an ugly case. I pulled out my very old eircom netopia router and it connected straight away! Will wait and see if it stays that way...
