Has anyone been awarded carers allowance with no arrears

I applied for carers allowance a year and a half ago. It was refused but then won on appeal.

The problem is that the appeal has been allowed only from the 1st of sept this year.

I have heard from someone else who won their appeal, and again, no arrears.

Is this their new unofficial policy? I'd love to know how many other people are in the same situation.

Appeal the decision not to grant the arrears to the Ombudsman.

Explain in the letter of appeal that the level of care provided has not altered since you first applied, and you see no reason why you should not be paid arrears.

I think the Social Welfare may have brought in a new rule that they are no longer paying arrears on some claims but if your appeal predates that new rule then it shouldn't apply to you. I'm unsure of the exact details so you should ring them or citizens information to check that out.
