Form 12-repairs

I made a lot of repairs to my rental property last yr. My Parents gave me a % of the cost to help me out. If the repairs cost me 5K and my parents gave me 3k, when filling in the form 12 do I write down 5k or 2k (5k-3k my parents gave me) Hope I'm making sense?!
