You know that AE111 Levin's came with the Blacktop, not the Silvertop? No matter, there's no huge difference in engine power, I drove a Levin with a Silvertop and it could certainly move.

Regarding Mods, there's not a whole lot you can do cheaply. Standard airbox and plenum is the best bet, a cone filter or open trumpets simply add noise and lose power. A well designed cold air feed could increase power, but make sure it's not too low or it will suck in water.

Do you have Superstrut or McPherson suspension?

Standard airbox is better, the K&N is probably drawing in hot air from the engine bay - hot air has less oxygen. Some people lower the Superstrut but it will make it less comfortable and wear the arms out quicker. Frankly I can't fault the Superstrut as it is for handling. Make sure you change the oil and oil filter every 5,000 KM, the oil gets very hot and degrades quickly

The standard box is bettter with a cold feed. This site is very handy: http://s15.zetaboards.com/AE111_Forum/index/

Probably not, but servicing to the extreme guidelines in most manufacturer manuals cars puts you in the 5k mark for oil changes.

Why scrimp on Oil, its not expensive and its a very quick job...

As for Air filters id look at seeing could blacktop inlet manifold be fitted, if you can find one cheap and an ecu to run them...

They don't improve power. At all. The only advantage to these is that their re-usable. But they're such a pain to clean that I prefer the throw away paper ones

Thats my point. bit of a waffle statment "the oil gets very hot in them 1.6's and degrades quickly". i mean ffs thats just creating a non existant issue.

i agree with you though, i change my oil every roughly 7-8k kms for the reasons you said, it'l do wonders for the engines lifespan i hope and it doesn't take long or break the bank. and thats an ok reason. not because the oil gets very hot in my 1.3 turbo and degrades quicker than any other 1.3 petrol engine

one would assume it would be based on what engine the car has & the fashion its been drivin in.... i'd always aim to serivce a city car sooner then a motorway mule, but thats me.
