Can't get Saorview on Walker Box

I suspect I'm doing something stupid but any help appreciated.I've moved into a new house and had a sat dish and digital aerial installed.
I've bought a Walker Combi box and am having trouble getting Saorview on it and I'm not sure where the problem lies.
The satellite signal is working fine and the box picks up all the FTA channels from Astra but when I do the terrestrial scan I can't get any channels.
I initially thought that problem might lie with the aerial which is located in the attic, but I've just tried with an indoor aerial and it is not picking up any channels when I swop this into the box either.
At this stage I'm not sure if fault is with the box, the aerial or me.
    Any help appreciated.

Did the person who installed the aerial not check that it was working?

House was under construction at time and I didn't have a box or tv. I can get him back but would like to make sure aerial is the problem before I do.

You can't just throw up a aerial and expect it to work without testing it.
It needs to be pointing in the right direction and be be correctly polarised.

Can you get any analogue tv channels though the aerial?

He installs for sky and seemed to know what he was doing. He said he hadn't put up an attic aerial before and to give him a call if there were problems.

Should I just plug aerial direct to tv to check analogue?

    Yes, it's worth a try.

check your location on the saorview website, this will show if you have coverage in your area, there are some areas that have poor or no coverage. It will also show you the channel you should be getting saorview on.
If you the box is not showing signal strength on this channel its most likely the aerial isnt set up right

No such thing as a digital aerial.

TBH most of the guys that install SKY are 3 day trained in how to drill 4 holes in a wall bolt up a dish and bracket and align that dish to Astra 28.2 east. If this guy has never installed an Aerial before he done yours then he should have left this whole install to some one who installs Aerials and universal Dishes (not just sky) for a living and knows his job.

Why dont we just leave the people who think that they have a digital aeriel to believe that they have a digital aerial. After aso then all aerials will be digital aerials.

Because an aerial is not in any way digital - the digital TV signals are carried in ordinary 8 MHz UHF frequency channel.

The digital signals are extracted from the analogue carrier long after the signal has passed the aerial.

Calling an aerial 'Digital' is much the same as calling it a 'Mozart aerial' just because there is a concert being broadcast.

One of the main points in the ASO/DSO process is the reuse of aerial, coax, amplifiers and TV sets - with a box in most cases being the only new thing needed from October 24.

    Lars :)
