Hey, so recently someone on forums told me it's like two months or quite long time before I get penalty points. Well today I got a letter from RSA saying I got 2 penalty points, so I am wondering do I need to call insurance or is that automated that they will find out?

I called mine yesterday. There was a warning while I was on hold to say that if there was undisclosed information it may impact on a claim. I don't know who true that would be in practice if a third party was involved but I chose to tell them. It doesn't make a difference until you have 6 with my company.

Ahh ok, just wondering as i think i "might" have passed a camera slightly over the limit on the 29th.

Thanks, if it's only your first points it should make little or no odds to most insurers in terms of renewal cost

My insurance runs out only in may. And I am doing test at around christmas so I am thinking if thats ok if I dont tell them till christmas, then when I get full license, make a call and let them know of both things.

If it's okay not to tell them, it's okay to tell them. Not mentioning any changes which will potentially affect your policy could end terribly.

Oh well guess I will make a call tomorrow.

No harm ringing them and telling them, they won't charge you anything extra now. The period of disclosure is at renewal and depending on your company may or may not effect the premium. If its 2 points only you should be fine.

You dont have to tell them about points until your renewal, but if you are unsure then its best to call them and have it on record that you informed them.

Well, if you plan not to tell them, you don't have to actually lie until your renewal.

But it is always best to tell them them the truth. Your policy probably includes some language saying you have a duty to inform them of all relevant information or your policy may be void blah blah.

    Do it in writing.

Correct, you only have to inform of points them when they send out your renewal. NOt sure about any convictions mid term though!

Not telling them until renewal is not 'lying', you are not expected to declare them until then.
