Are you looking at old ones or newer 1.5 dCi ones?

Have you a budget in mind?

I'd prefer a transit connect or a caddy but the kangoos and berlingos are great value

Get a 1.9 non turbo. Slow as hell but robust enough.

Consider a partner or Berlingo non turbo too.

Neighbour swears by old berlingos. My uncle had a 1.9d kangoo which took dogs abuse. For your budget I can't see you doing better than one of these 3 vans.

Then your probably looking at old model 1.9 as the new model 1.5dci wasn't out till 2004 most of them are making more than 1k. We had 3 old model kangoos 2 2001 and 1 2002 used for construction and they were all good vans. Although you need to find a well minded one as like anything if it was abused it will let you down. But in general Renault commercials are great my dad has had a fair few in the 8 last years and he recons they are better than ford vw for reliability economy etc.

just an update, got a 00 caddy yesterday, tested to june nxt year paid €800 clean enough for the year body wise, 145 on the clock, and the owner told me of one or two small jobs that had to be done so i said id take a gamble. drove home no hass and around last night, this morning when i went to start it DISASTER, turn over but wont kick in. really needed it this weekend and now had to go and rent a car. i guess its my own fault for paying so low but my budget was only €1000.
